Why I Love My Home...
The things I love about Enterprise, Alabama are that it has a small town feel with a lot of the conveniences (stores, restaurants, etc.) of a larger town, many great family-friendly community activities, numerous churches that allow your family to find just the right place to worship, and the proximity to Fort Rucker for work, the Commissary, and other things a military family needs.
Our neighborhood is a great place for raising a family, enjoying friendly neighbors, taking a walk with your pet, and relaxing at home but still never being too far from anything in town when you need or want it.
We love to eat at La Leyenda or El Rodeo (great, authentic Mexican Food), CheeBurger CheeBurger, Miyori Japanese Steak House, Santa Fe Steak House, Mellow Mushroom, Ruby Tuesdays, and many others. We never lack for a place to go out as couple or with the entire family. There are many varieties of styles and ethnicities of food.
Grocery stores are plentiful and convenient. As a military family, we often shop at the Commissary on Ft. Rucker since it's not too far away. In addition, there is a Super Wal-Mart near by as well as a brand new Publix within minutes from the house. There is also a Food World that's almost in our neighborhood. It's great for those last minute ingredients you've run out of. Furthermore, there are several other smaller grocery stores around town, like Winn Dixie.
When we first moved to town, we looked at A LOT of houses (around 60 or so). This one stood out from everything else we saw in our price range and we have worked to improve it even further. First, it is a corner lot so we get much more "personal space." Our house isn't shoved right up against our neighbor's. Our spacious, fenced in back yard is perfect for our growing kids and dog or having friends over for cookouts. We have several mature trees in the front and back which provide both shade and privacy. It feels like we have a small piece of country life in the middle a suburban neighborhood. We have capitalized on this attractive asset by expanding the fenced portion of the yard, leveling it, and by adding flowers, a fire pit, a sprinkler system, and a privacy fence. Secondly, we have a spacious interior. We have opened up and updated the all shared areas and added a spacious bonus room with built in cabinetry. There are so many special features to love about our home.
Enterprise is a great place to live. For us military families, it is the perfect balance between military and home life. We are close to Ft. Rucker where we can get to work quickly and easily and also be involved in military life to its fullest. It is equally as nice to be living off post in a town like Enterprise where we can be involved in the civilian community life and get a break from military life when we want to. The Enterprise community is extremely supportive of military families.
Our home is located in a great school district and the schools are only minutes from the house. Enterprise also provides a couple private options for your children's schooling, if you so desire. Furthermore, there is a community college in town with opportunity for continued education. In addition, Enterprise has a great YMCA and Recreation Department where kids have the opportunity to participate in sports in a wholesome, positive environment. Furthermore, there are options for dance, gymnastics, martial arts, soccer clubs, and many other extracurricular activities. We also have a big, beautiful park only minutes from our home with a play ground, splash park, walking/running trails, athletic fields, and picnic areas.
Our home is in a great location and is situated on a great lot. Beyond all that, we have invested a lot of time, effort, and money in updating and improving every room as well as adding an extra room. We have completely renovated the kitchen, complete with custom cabinetry, solid surface countertops, and recessed lighting. We've opened up the floor plan and updated all light fixtures. We have replaced, remodeled, built, painted, and cleaned until we have created an updated, beautiful home which we would love to continue to enjoy if we didn't have to move. All you have to do is move in and enjoy the fruits of our labors. You just have to add your own personal touches and call it home.
This area truly has something for everyone. Whether you like events like the Peanut Festival or Bama Jam, a good round of golf, or family time at the park, Enterprise provides an abundance of options for all types. One of our favorite things about this area has been taking day or weekend trips to the gulf coast beaches. The beaches are beautiful, are only a short drive away, and have lots of great lodging available.
Our average electric bill with Alabama Power Company is approximately $250.00. Our average water bill with Enterprise Water Works Board is $98.00. (These figures are an average of the 12 months of 2012.) We use Time Warner Cable for both television and internet service. We have been pleased by the service of all these providers.
