The things I love about Enterprise, are that it has a small town feel with a lot of the conveniences (stores, restaurants, etc.) of a larger town, many great family-friendly community activities, and churches that allow your family to find just the right place to worship. The proximity to Fort Rucker is great not only for work, and Commissary but also for other things a military family needs.
Our neighborhood is great for raising a family and enjoying wonderful/friendly and courteous neighbors who can make you feel like you are part of their family no matter who you are.
You can go fishing on the lake, walking your dog as well as picnicking in the common area by the lake or relaxing at home but never being too far from anything in town when you need or want it.
We love to eat at Brasas Brazil, Rawls, Miyori Japanese Steakhouse, La Leyenda, or El Rodeo (great, authentic Mexican Food) as well as Santa Fe Steak House, Mellow Mushroom, Ruby Tuesdays among many others. We never lack for a place to go out as couple or with the entire family. There are many varieties of styles and ethnicities of food.
Grocery stores are plentiful. As a military family, we often did our grocery shopping at the Commissary on Ft. Rucker (since it's not too far away) or at Publix (within minutes of the house). In addition, there is a Grocery Outlet, Piggly-Wiggly, Winn-Dixie, Wal-Mart Supercenter, Seoul Oriental Food Store, Food Giant, as well as other smaller grocery stores.
When we moved to Enterprise, we looked at a lot of houses but this one stood out from all of them because of its beautiful green and quiet neighborhood as well as it's location. We loved that it is a corner lot (which allowed us more personal space). We love that the house sits high on the lot and it has a large back yard as well as large front yard.
The inside of the house appealed to us greatly for its many features like the large and open floor plan with, the Split Bedroom, the Walk-in Closets, Jacuzzi Hot Tub. The kitchen and the Custom Cabinets as well as Custom Concrete Countertops were an incredible plus because of the easy maintenance and durability as well as resistance to heat and scratching. Plus the Two Car Garage was useful in bad weather.
The Wiregrass area is wonderful for its many amenities and Enterprise has a wealth of attractions both historic and contemporary to make it a destination for visitors year-round. The city’s Boll Weevil Monument is known worldwide, and Fort Rucker, the Historic Rawls Hotel, and the Army Aviation Museum also draw many visitors to this quiet, south Alabama town.
For us military families, it is the perfect balance between military and home life. We are close to Ft. Rucker where we can get to work quickly and easily and it is nice to be living off post in a town like Enterprise where we can get a break from military life when we want to.
The Enterprise school system continuously ranks among the best in the state. Their music programs are top notch and the sports teams are well known state wide. The new Enterprise High School is one of the top 3 largest schools in the Southeast, and even has FEMA approved storm-reinforced sections.
Of course we all like different things, however this area truly has something for everyone. Whether you like events like the Peanut Festival or Bama Jam, a good round of golf, or family time at the park, or bike riding, Enterprise provides an abundance of options for everyone. One of our favorite things about this area has been taking day or weekend trips to the gulf coast beaches. The beaches are beautiful, are only a short drive away, and have lots of great lodging available.
The lake across from the house gave us a place where we can enjoy even more relaxed time on the water where we can have more fun fishing or relaxing on the boat enjoying the quite time at night.
Our average electric bill with Covington Electric was approximately $180.00/mo. Our average water bill with Enterprise Water Works was $20.00/mo. (These figures are an average of the 12 months of 2012.) We used DirecTV for television service which we found to be the absolute best compared to other providers. Overall we have been pleased by the service of all these providers.
